My name is Benjamin Cox. I grew up in London, began studying Chinese medicine in 2002 and am a fully insured member of the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taichi Union of Great Britain.
What drew me to the study of Chinese Medicine was a love of Taichi, Qigong and meditation, which I have now practiced for nearly 15 years with several well known teachers in the field. I run classes and workshops in Oxford in addition to co-ordinating and teaching the Qigong module at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading; one of the largest acupuncture colleges in Britain.
As a 2007 graduate of the five-year Traditional Chinese Medicine (BSc) degree run jointly by Middlesex University and Beijing University of Chinese Medicine I am fully qualified to provide acupuncture, herbal medicine and dietary and lifestyle advice; the final clinical phase of this course involved work placements in the hospitals of Beijing (5 months) and NHS pain clinics. During this time period I also learned Chinese massage completing a 4 month diploma in London and studying whilst in Beijing.
Since graduating I have continued to deepen my working knowledge with several highly skilled practitioners, most significantly through a two year seminar series on Acupuncture and Chinese massage with Andrew Nugent-Head. Andrew has been living and continuously studying in China through traditional apprenticeships with famous Chinese medical practitioners since 1989.
I have also studied another sophisticated system of Chinese massage with Bruce Frantzis since 2005 and have taken specialist courses on Tuina massage for trauma.
